Plone is compatible with all Zope CMS with some adaptations. Built for the University of Luton to help personnel comply with the UK Freedom of Information Act, the application is Zope 3 based but integrates with Zope CMS's such as Silva. Zope naturally excels at serving dynamic content, but isn't as effective at serving static content as other web platforms. Zope is powerful, but has a long, steep learning curve. Zope 3 has a conundrum: it needs to be "done enough" to attract more contributors, but many contributors can't participateuntil it is "done enough". Zope is available for all major platforms, including Linux, Solaris, Windows, and Mac OS. ZOPE is available as an OpenSource product. ZOPE is a fairly well developed platform for program development.
Opensource The main goal of this project is to build the next-generation OpenSource ECM Platform on top of Zope3 able to compete with the majorECM solutions on the market such as Documentum, OpenText, etc. It is our opinion that the field of CMS solutions will evolve very rapidly, with growing availability of OpenSource solutions with very powerful capabilities. :-) I really enjoy to see lot of majors actors the the Zope CMS world working together on the best opensource CMS ever :-).
